Prime Minister Issues Directive to Rationalize Consumption and Control Spending Across All Government Institutions

Ban on the use of government vehicles for non-official purposes and cancellation of previous exemptions

Suspension of official delegations and committee travel abroad for two months, except in cases of utmost necessity

Prohibition of air conditioners and heating devices in ministries and government institutions

Assignment of the Audit Bureau and internal oversight units to monitor implementation and report violations

On Monday, Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan issued a directive aimed at rationalizing consumption and controlling spending across all government institutions, official departments, and public authorities, in light of the current circumstances.

According to the directive, the Prime Minister decided to ban the use of government vehicles except for official purposes, prohibit their use outside official working hours, and cancel all previous approvals and exemptions in this regard.

The directive also included a suspension of travel abroad for official delegations and committees for two months from the date of issuance, except in cases of utmost necessity, and only for justified reasons with prior approval from the Prime Minister. Similarly, hosting of official delegations is suspended for two months from the same date.

The directive further stipulated the prohibition of air conditioners and any other heating devices in ministries, public institutions, and government departments.

The Prime Minister tasked the Audit Bureau and internal oversight units with monitoring the implementation of these measures and submitting reports on any violations or breaches.

The directive also emphasized the continuation of measures related to rationalizing and controlling spending in accordance with previous Cabinet decisions on the matter.
