187,000 Traffic Accidents in Jordan in 2025 Leave 510 Dead
The 2025 annual traffic accident report recorded a noticeable rise in accidents during March, which coincided with the month of Ramadan, accounting for 10.3 percent of the total number of incidents.
According to the report issued by the Public Security Directorate, this same month saw the peak of collision, pedestrian, and rollover accidents.
Overall Decline in Accidents and Fatalities
Despite the spike during Ramadan, the report showed an overall decline in both accidents and fatalities. The total number of traffic accidents dropped by more than 1.6 percent compared with 2024, while fatalities decreased by 6.1 percent.
In total, Jordan recorded 187,213 traffic accidents in 2025, including 11,680 incidents involving human injuries. These accidents resulted in 510 deaths and 17,146 injuries, including 909 severe injuries, 6,357 moderate injuries, and 9,880 minor injuries.
Types of Accidents
The report indicated that collision accidents accounted for 56.8 percent of all incidents, followed by pedestrian accidents at 37.5 percent, and rollovers at 5.7 percent.
In terms of injury severity, accidents resulting in minor injuries made up 47.4 percent of the total, followed by moderate injuries at 41.8 percent, and severe injuries at 6.8 percent, while fatal accidents represented 4.0 percent.
Timing of Accidents
Data showed that Thursday recorded the highest number of accidents at 15.6 percent, while Friday had the lowest at 13.1 percent.
Collisions were most frequent on Thursdays, accounting for 15.8 percent of such incidents, while pedestrian accidents peaked on Wednesdays at 16 percent, and rollover accidents were highest on Thursdays at 17.2 percent.
In terms of time of day, the highest rates of injuries and fatalities occurred between 6:00 p.m. and midnight. During this period, 38.6 percent of deaths, 41.6 percent of severe injuries, and 37.9 percent of moderate injuries were recorded.
Geographic Distribution
The report noted that 91.2 percent of injury-related accidents occurred داخل المدن, with collision accidents accounting for 90.3 percent of urban incidents and pedestrian accidents for 95.7 percent.
At the governorate level, the capital Amman ranked first with 40.7 percent of total accidents, followed by Irbid at 17.4 percent and Zarqa at 10.9 percent.
Although accidents declined in other regions, rollover accidents remained relatively high in Mafraq at 10.1 percent and Ma’an at 11 percent.
The report also highlighted a rise in the number of registered vehicles in Jordan to 2,115,356, in addition to the entry of 874,072 foreign vehicles into the Kingdom during 2025. This increase adds further pressure on traffic management and underscores the need to enhance infrastructure and enforcement measures.
