Following “Maidani” Calls, Expansion Works Begin on Kufranja – Wadi Al-Tawaheen Road in Ajloun
Nine days after a session of the “Maidani” program, broadcast on Radio Al-Balad 92.5 FM in Ajloun Governorate, where participants called for the full redevelopment of the Ajloun–Kufranja–Wadi Al-Tawaheen road to the highest engineering standards, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, in cooperation with the Traffic Department and Highway Patrol, announced the start of traffic arrangements and safety measures in work zones as part of the second phase of the Kufranja–Wadi Al-Tawaheen road maintenance and expansion project.
The project extends over approximately 2.8 kilometers and comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance traffic safety. The implementation period is set at 180 days, with an estimated cost of around 2.77 million Jordanian dinars.
The scope of work includes widening the existing road, milling and resurfacing it with a new asphalt layer, in addition to excavation, backfilling, and preparation works for the expansion areas. It also includes rock cutting, installation of protective mesh for rocky slopes, construction of gabion retaining structures, road markings, and the installation of lighting over a distance of approximately 6 kilometers. Furthermore, all road safety elements will be completed across both the first and second phases in accordance with international standards.
The “Maidani” program had recently hosted an expanded discussion session that brought together a group of Ajloun residents, experts, and academics. The session reviewed conditions in the governorate nearly a year after a Cabinet visit led by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan in April last year, along with the directives and development projects that were expected to be completed or advanced during 2025 and beyond.
The program was presented by journalist Mamdouh Al-Hanahneh and featured participation from former Member of Parliament Dr. Salma Al-Rabadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ajloun National University Dr. Mohammad Noor Al-Samadi, and economic advisor Dr. Ali Yousef Al-Momani, in addition to broad community participation from local residents who enriched the discussion with direct field insights.
