Jordan Rotary Conference Attracts Over 90 Participants
The seventh Annual Jordan Rotary Conference was held in Amman Friday, February 3, 2023, and attracted over ninety participants from twelve Rotary clubs and eight Rotaract clubs.
The conference aimed to be a forum for discussions and brainstorming to improve collaboration and increase the impact of Rotary in Jordan and the communities they serve.
The conference was opened by Conference Chair Maher Al Khaiyat and included speeches from Deputy District Governor Diala Al-Alami and Incoming District Governor Bashar Haddad.
Attendees learned about Rotary Jordan initiatives and the future, both locally and globally, through presentations and panel discussions. Topics included membership, polio walk, finance, training, youth, and the upcoming regional conference in Beirut. The conference's theme was "Together we do better Rotary".
The first-panel discussion focused on youth and community engagement and was led by Rana Rizkallah. The panel addressed the challenges faced by youth, especially Rotaract, in becoming independent entities. After the discussion, the Rotary Orchestra of Jordan performed, and Rotaractor Nadine Rizkallah presented a special song she wrote entitled “Rotary".
The second panel discussed vocational training and work ethics and was facilitated by Past President Khaled Kawar. The panelists emphasized the importance of vocational training in providing livelihoods. In addition to the panel discussions, attendees participated in an interactive networking session led by trainer Abdalla Mazahreh while new members and Paul Harris members were recognized.
Rotary in Jordan started with the establishment of the Rotary Club of Amman in 1956 and has since grown to include over 450 members and 12 clubs registered officially under the Ministry of Social Development. Projects are funded by club membership fees, donations, and grants from the Rotary Foundation.
This year's conference was an important opportunity to continue the success of Rotary in Jordan and raise awareness of the organization's impact on communities. The conference was a busy and productive one, aimed at furthering Rotary's success in Jordan.
