The Center for Defending the Freedom of Journalists has expressed a deep concern for the growing threat faced by journalists in Jordan, particularly since the events of the protest on March 25, at Interior Ministry Circle. The organization said, in a statement issued Monday: "A number of journalists have received direct threats, and others were the victims of the campaign, promoted by the mass media, that posed a threat to their safety and personal security." Such campaigns "constitute a violation of media freedom and independence ... as well as a violation of Jordanian law... which criminalizes the incitement to violence."
