The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Jordan’s Independent Election Commission, Mousa Maaytah, said that the National Islamic Party and the Islamic Action Front are committed to amending their names in line with the Political Parties Law.

In remarks to Al Mamlaka TV on Saturday evening, Maaytah explained that the National Islamic Party has already submitted amendments to its internal bylaws to ensure compliance with the law, which prohibits naming political parties on a religious basis.

He pointed out that Article Five of the Political Parties Law bans the establishment of parties on religious, sectarian, or regional grounds, stressing that all political parties are required to ensure their names fully conform to the law.

Maaytah added that all parties have responded to the commission’s request to align both their names and internal regulations with the legal requirements.
